Bermuda

While many people desire a short cut lawn, it is often not the best practice to mow Bermuda grass too low. Mowing Bermuda at a higher level can lead to stronger root systems and more shade on the soil, allowing the grass to retain more of its moisture. This practice will also help in eliminating the growth of new weeds in your lawn, because they will not get the sunlight they need to grow.

The optimal height for Bermuda during the growing season should be between 2” to 2.5”. No more than 1/3 of the grass blade should be cut during a single mowing. Cutting more will lead to a yellowing of the yard, which many people refer to as “burning up the lawn”, and will increase water requirements. That is why it is important to mow Bermuda at a minimum of one time per week, or move the height up throughout the mowing season.

Fescue

Fescue lawns are beautiful year long, because they remain green throughout the year.  However, it is a more delicate grass and can take some extra care.  It is not recommended to plant fescue in areas that receive direct sunlight for the majority of the day.  During the hotter months, it can easily become stressed from heat and require more water.  Also, it should be noted that Fescue should not be mowed as low as Bermuda lawns, as this will also add stress to the lawn.  Optimal heights for fescue are 3.5” to 4”.

"Called Tirey and he immediatly answered his phone, (did not have to leave a message). We discussed the work I needed done for our lawn. I also told him that If he could I would like to have it done in the next day or two if possible. Tirey said he would look at the job and call me back. He called me back when he said he wold and we aggreed on a price and he did the work right a way. We are very pleased with the quality of the work and very much appreciated his promptness and eagerness to get it done when we needed it. Tirey was pleasant and courteous on the phone. I will use him again"

"One of the gentlemen came to my door while the others started the lawn care. Their fee is $35, however I included a $5 tip. I was asked if I wanted to be put on a schedule, but at this time I said no and was given a business card. Overall, the business did a good job with my lawn and the alleyway. I was pleased and they are returning on the 24th of May."
